Founded in June of 2013, Warwicke Hill began as a small seed of an idea by Jessica Crannell.
Crannell initially attended Washington State University to pursue her childhood dream of becoming an equine veterinarian. In the course of her education, the direction shifted slightly and evolved into an intriguing passion for equine reproduction. She proudly graduated with a B.S. in Animal Science/Pre-Veterinary Medicine and a minor in Agribusiness Economics - a world-class education deeply rooted in scientific reproductive physiology. She credits her collegiate success to Dr. Derek McLean.
Travelling across the country, Crannell landed an internship position in the Horse Mecca - Lexington, Kentucky. She spent time in the broodmare and foaling barns of Monticule Farm, famous for producing the 2008 Kentucky Derby Winner, Big Brown. Although Crannell quickly mastered the skills in broodmare care, she sought to capitalize her time in Kentucky developing expertise in her chosen emphasis: stallions.
Enter Fred Saver.
Crannell took an incredible leap of faith and left Monticule to join Sarver's team at Leatherwood Stud in Paris, Kentucky. She flourished under his careful and wise mentorship, and contributes nearly all of her strong, experiential education to him - Sarver is one of the most respected gentlemen of the equine world, and arguably the most influential Saddlebred breeder in Kentucky.
Back in Portland, Crannell began working for a well known local equine theriogenologist further perfecting her talents. After the breeding season concluded in 2012, the gears began turning for Warwicke Hill...
